September Mission Challenge - Red Scarf Project

The mission of the Red Scarf Project is to place a handmade scarf into the hands of every foster child aging out of foster care and preparing to enter the world of college and adulthood. When one of these college students receives a Red Scarf, it usually becomes a treasured keepsake that the student will wear for years to come.

Every Fall, Foster Care to Success (FC2S) relies on the red scarves created by volunteer makers to fill Valentine’s Day care packages that are mailed to its students.

I've included links to the project to read more about the specifications and find inspiration patterns if you would like to contribute. We will be collecting scarves at our monthly stitiching gatherings. One of our stitching members, Royce Cano has agreed to collect these hats and gather together a shipment on behalf of those local deliveries. You can find the direct delivery information found directly on the site if you choose to send directly. You can bring hats to the workshops or drop them off in the TwinKnits collection bin in the narthex of St. Stephens Lutheran Church LCMS.
