February Mission Challenge - Prayer Cloths /Pocket Crosses

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

This month we have introduced prayer cloths, also known as pocket shawls or pocket crosses, to our workshop. These small pocket size crocheted crosses are created, prayed over, and then distributed to those who may need healing, encouragement or a simple reminder that God Loves us all, no matter what we are going through. We will be collecting these crosses for distribution in the upcoming months to the homebound, those recovering from illness or surgeries, military members recently deployed and others in need of encouragement.

Lionbrand has posted an article that has more ideas for how you can create, pray over and distribute your own prayer cloths. They have included a pattern. Prayer cloths can be any size or shape, but should be very portable and small enough to carry in a pocket.

One of our members found a mini version which will be perfect for this project. We will accept and can use any size crosses, but here is the pattern for the small cross which we will be including in Easter cards homebound and long-term care facilities. http://southernbellecrochet.com/free-pattern-mini-prayer-cloth/
