This month, we invite creators to make comforting items for premature babies. Natasha Ross annually asks crochet groups to contribute Octopus Loveys to the Levine Children's Hospital in memory of their daughter, Remi. As a former preemie, Remi now gives back to infants in the NICU with gratitude, as they strive to grow healthy enough to leave the hospital and go home.
By making these adorable Octopus toys, you can support the growth and sensory development of premature babies, while also preventing them from pulling on hospital tubes in incubators. Your contribution of a few of these cute little guys would greatly benefit our tiniest fighters.
Whether you enjoy knitting or wish to support in a different way, you can contribute by creating small baby blankets or preemie hats to accompany these little ones. Please use soft acrylic or cotton blend yarns suitable for baby items when making blankets. Octopus snuggles should be made with washable cotton yarns.
