What could be better than purple project during this Lenten season? This month we are challenging crafters to design purple baby caps in support of the Period of Purple Crying Education Program at Catawba Valley Medical Hospital. CVMH delivers and cares for thousands of babies yearly. As part of their service they offer this program with the hopes that it will help reduce cases of Shaken Baby Syndrome and infant abuse by helping parents and caregivers understand the frustrating features of crying in normal, healthy infants that can lead to shaking or abuse.
These purple baby hats will be provided to parents who take part in this training as a reminder and encouragement. Crafters are encouraged to pray over these hats for the future parents, babies and caregivers.
We will be collecting hats during the month of March and delivering to CVMH for distribution. We will continue to make deliveries as needed. You can bring hats to the workshops or drop them off in the TwinKnits collection bin in the narthex of St. Stephens Lutheran Church LCMS. For those of you who are not local and would like to contribute to the national program or a program near you, I have included information on the Period of Purple Crying hat project. It also includes suggested patterns and directions. https://www.clickforbabies.org
March's COVID shut downs caused a delay in the delivery of our hats to CVMH. Happy to report that we are able to deliver now and have 27 more hats which brings our delivery total to 77 hats! These will keep the program well stocked through the new year. Thank you everyone!
Looks like we've created about 50 hats that were posted for our March Mission. Can't wait to be able to deliver these. I'll be checking in with a few agencies on Monday to see if deliveries are possible. Great job ladies.
If anyone needs yarn, message me and we'll find a way to get some to you. You are welcomed to pick up from my house anytime. I have more purple and other colors as well.
