September 2023 Twinknits Mission Challenge

prayer blankets For palliative care

This month we want to challenge you to knit and crochet your prayers into prayer blankets for palliative care patience. These blankets provide not only comfort and warmth to patience in care for serious often terminal illnesses, but will also provide an opportunity for family, friends and care givers to pray over these blankets and provide comfort and peace for the soul. We will post links to several patterns that we recommend, but you can search for your own patterns or create one of your own creations. This month's donations will be supporting the Trinity Village Senior Care Center, Hickory NC.

If you have another agency that you would like to donate to directly, please let us know who and how you've donated. We would love to see your project and learn about other needs in our community and share it with our other makers.

We do not have required specifications for these blankets, but have suggested specifications to help you find and work on your blankets.

Suggested Lap Blanket Specifications.

Lap blanket suggested sizes:

36″ x 36" or 42-42" square or similar rectangular sizes.

Materials:

Acrylic and Acrylic blends work well. We recommend materials that can be easily washed and managed. Soft fibers are also appreciated to reduce any irritation of sensitive skins.
